Building Better Boundaries

After a sold out event for our first Forum in 2025, we are delighted to present our next offering: Building Better Boundaries.

Much of the current consent education fails to teach us much about the initial steps: setting up our boundaries and ensuring we are able to articulate them. It's one thing to know you limits when you play - the hard 'no's or the enthusiastic 'yes's, however we often fail to establish clear boundaries around the way we wish to be treated and engaged with as both people or players.
It's our contention that without strong boundaries and the ability to articulate them, consent will continue to be problematic no matter how many classes you've been to, or how much practice you've had. This Forum will look beyond our limits and explore the boundaries we put in place to play and interact.

We will also be looking at the concept of privilege and safety around establishing and in particular articulating your boundaries. Sure, for many people saying 'NO' is easy, and seems the obvious way to put up a wall, however not everyone feels safe to say an abrupt no-nonsense 'NO', and some people have put themselves at risk by doing so.
All three of our panelists have experience as kink players and professional Dungeon Monitors. It has been their job to establish and uphold boundaries for both the space they are working in, and the many and varied people who come through the space.

Some of the ideas we will explore are:

  • The difference between limits and boundaries

  • Ways to say no

  • Boundaries and safety

  • Building better boundaries in relation to your individual style of people/play management

  • The relationship between boundaries and consent
