The 12 Steps To Scene Construction

This workshop will apply each of the 12 steps of 'The Hero’s Journey' as a planning format to underpin the kinkster’s journey in negotiating, planning and executing a transformational kink scene.

'The Hero’s Journey' is a classic story formula that shows up in many cultures and formats. It was originally posited by an American writer, Joseph Campbell in 1949 in a book titled, 'The Hero With a Thousand Faces'. The basic premise is that The Hero is called to action and sets out on a journey that involves facing and overcoming challenges and obstacles. The Hero returns transformed by their experience and can then share their insights or ‘the elixir’ in their everyday lives.

Whilst there are many ways to construct a scene, this approach taps into a subconsciously and cross-culturally understood human experience. Becoming familiar with this formula also offers choice to intentionally depart from these structures to experiment with alternative journey arcs.

This workshop is suitable for Dominants, tops, switches, partners and anyone interested in developing their creative capacity to construct and deliver interesting kink scenes. It will be a mix of theory, discussion and solo/paired activities that will allow practicing techniques that can be then applied in life beyond the workshop.
